Sunset Glaze Ceramic Mug

This glaze is our "Sunset" color combination. The piece is a dark black/brown on the bottom, and a variegated golden brown on the inside and top of the outside. There are highlights of red and deep orange where the two glazes meet which create a drippy sunset - different on each piece. It's a bit complicated to apply, but well worth it.

Following in the shadow of our wonderful tankards the 'Half-Pint' will actually hold nearly a whole pint! Approximate volume is 12 - 14 ounces. The Half-Pint is styled very similar to our larger Tankards, and also resembles the old Navy rum cups...another possible use....

Each Half-Pint mug is thrown on pottery wheel from stoneware clay, then a handle is added and the piece is fired to "bisque" temperature of over 1900 degrees Fahrenheit. We then glaze the piece and fire it again to over 2175 degrees Fahrenheit, or "Cone 6" to vitrify the clay and create a sturdy ceramic piece. The Half-Pint can be used in the microwave and dishwasher. The glaze is completely food safe.
